We almost didn’t make it to Tahoe this year, so be glad that you can read this entry!
When we started out at Los Gatos, it was about 9:15 AM. Already, there was rain coming down pretty hard.
While we were on the freeway, we heard on the radio that there was an accident farther down, and they were turning all the cars around! We almost had to drive back to Los Gatos! Luckily, traffic was moving so slowly, that by the time we reached the turnaround point, they let us through. We didn’t eat lunch, and when we finally got to the cabin (at 4:30 PM, I might add!), the entrance where we usually park was covered with snow!!! Dad had to drop us off, and we had to climb over the wall, and roll down! Then, we stuck our pants in the dryer, and wore blankets around our legs (not kidding!).
Although this trip hasn’t gotten off to a good start, I know it will get much better (I’ll give you a hint: SIX FEET OF SNOW!).

Today, we drove down to Ward Creek. Lucy loved it! Dad, however, was continuously bitten by mosquitoes.

Today, we went to Emerald Bay again, but it was a little different. We took the long hike down again, only this time, the water level was raised considerably higher. We had a picnic lunch; I had a very good sausage sandwich. This time, we got to have a tour of Vikingsholm, and it was pretty cool.
That night, we went golfing. We went on the larger course (the one with 28 holes ), and it was pretty fun. I never got a “hole in one”, but I did very well, nonetheless. The “pendulum” and the “bear” were pretty tough, but other, like the “spider” and the “castle” were fairly simple.
After golfing, we played “Moonshine Mine”, which is a shooting game. You try to hit the targets, and something funny happens. Dad continuously hit one guy in the pants, and he always shot water in our faces. It was very fun.
[included mini-golf scores]

Today, we had a sort of lazy day. We went on a walk to the Bridgetender, and had chicken strips and fries for lunch. We watched the fish swimming in the Lower Truckee River.
When we got back to the cabin, I got to show Grandma my card game “Diamonds”. Before that, IÂ finally got to make the pound cake, and we had it for dessert.

Today, we got to have a ride on the Tahoe Gal. Mostly, I rode on the bottom deck, for it was really windy on top. The captain was very nice, and she let me ride in the steering room, and told me a lot of neat stuff. I took plenty of pictures of stuff like Cave Rock, Eagle Falls, Vikingsholm, the Tea House, the state border, and other stuff. We got to also see the Tahoe Queen and the M.S. Dixie II.

Sunday, June 16, 1996 (Father’s Day)
Today, as it says above, was Father’s Day. The kids gave Dad two T-shirts, a San Francisco Giants one and an “I Am Father, Hear Me Snore” one. Donna said it was perfect. Grandma gave Dad a birdhouse with a wooden sailor on it. Donna and Kara gave him a green shirt and tan pants.
For most of the day, we stayed at the beach. Mostly I would paddy the raft, and my arms ached afterwards. Grandma had bought some woggles and a connector piece to float on in the lake, and they were pretty fun to use. She promised to buy another connector to use at her house (they have tons of woggles there!) For lunch, we had sandwiches, chips, and “Squeezit” drinks. After I was done swimming, paddling, and “woggling”, Grandma and I played a game of “Neverending Crazy 8’s”, but stopped after about four rounds.
When we got home, Kara and Amelia continued their game of Monopoly, which they had started the night before! After many a few arguments, they decided to call it quits.

Today, we went to the Ponderosa Ranch, and it was different than the first time. As before, we went on a haywagon ride to breakfast, and saw an outlaw. Luckily, this time the hot chocolate didn’t burn my tongue! I was counted as an adult, and have the ticket to prove it! We went to the petting zoo, and got to feed the goats and sheep. They practically climbed on top of us to get the food! Later, we got a tour of the Cartwright house, which we didn’t get to do last time. As we walked farther, we got to see a guinea fowl lay and egg (Grandpa insisted it was a goat’s egg!), and saw three tine baby goats. As a souvenir, I got a really cool cedar box with the famous “burning map” on the lid. I also got an obsidian arrowhead to put inside.
At the showdown (which was postponed to 12:30, because of a wedding), it was a lot like last year, except for the actors. I got to suggest putting a stick of T.N.T. in the outhouse, to surprise the unsuspecting deputy. All on all, I had a great time.

Friday, June 14, 1996 (Flag Day)
At about 1:30, we arrived at the cabin. I got to teach Grandma how to play Mancala, and she won against Carlo! Pretty good teaching, huh?
Me, Carlo, & Kara decided to play a friendly game of Monopoly at about 2:00. Kara dropped out about half-way through the game, and I got her properties. Eventually I had almost all of the properties, including Boardwalk and Park Place, both of which having hotels. At the end, I had $1,999, almost all of the properties (excluding three), and a “Get Out of Jail Free” card, at about 4:20, the longest game I had ever played!

This morning, we went to Emerald Bay. The water was surprizingly warm, compared to the beach we usually go to, anyway. I got to take a picture of Eagle Falls, a waterfall which runs into Emerald Bay.

Today I went on a long walk with my dad, Alicia, Amelia, Jack, Carlo, Lucy, and Kara. It was slightly strenuous, but fun. We also went to the beach today.
This afternoon, Dad taught me how to play a card game, called “31”, which is similar to “21”. It is really fun. I was going to play poker, but one thing led to another, and we didn’t. However, I got to play a few rounds of dice poker with Dad.
