November 8th, 2004

i have made a long-overdue update to the get a life soundtrack with track 4 “winterpretation” … wednesday november 10th is the first annual ALL CAPS DAY (basically, leave that caps lock key on for the duration of the day)

christmas wish list

October 17th, 2004

well well, long time no see … i’m putting up a christmas wish list, on account of it being a hell of a lot easier to give out a url than print out lists … this update isn’t really for the average passer-by, it’s for family members … to all others, I suggest participating in this year’s child’s play

Simon says “BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP”

June 4th, 2004

I thought I should drop in real quick and tell you all to download Simon Extreme. For all you “young’ns” who never experienced the joy of Simon, it’s a requirement that you download and play the game right now. Nay, a civic duty. For the rest of you that know and love the game already, well… it’s required of you too. You need to spread the word on this most classic of classic games. Download it already.

(requires Mac OS X to work, but all cool people have Mac OS X anyway… you are cool, right?)

Mandatory Livejournal-esque Whining

May 30th, 2004

There is an unwritten law of blogging that requires the blogger to write about their current state of emotion. More specifically, one must make a blog whenever they are feeling under the weather. Damn you, you Washington fatcats!

I’m sick. At first, I thought it might have been allergies, due to the high pollen count in the air this weekend. But when it persisted after several days of coughing, sneezing, nose-blowing, and general not-fun-having, I began to think it might be something more viral. It’s conceivable that an initial allergic reaction weakened my immune system, leaving the door open for any number of colds, flus, dysenteries (I hope it won’t come to that!), and other fun little infections.

And of course, this little ailment couldn’t have come at a worse time than last week, when I took my school finals. To any fellow classmates who might read this obscure little corner of the web, I apologize for blowing my nose for two hours straight while you tried to fill in Scantron bubbles and write out meaningful essays. My bad.

But the worst part about being bed-ridden is that you don’t get to do, well, anything. I sat around all day watching TV, which I generally try to avoid doing, because it’s quite possibly the least productive activity on the planet. Until I sat down and started typing up this blog, I hadn’t accomplished a single noteworthy task. Not that blogs are much more noteworthy… -_-;;

Okay, I’m done whining. Until my cough meds knock me out, I’m gonna sit at this computer and get things done! Things like song-writing, comic strips, AIM chatting… okay, those are borderline accomplishments, but it beats watching Blue Crush. Yes, I watched Blue Crush. Good Lord, that movie was a stinkfest. Please, go check out my recommended song below to get your collective minds off of the trash heap that is Blue Crush. Also, to explain the picture, I’ve made three small but distinct changes that would have made Blue Crush that much more enjoyable.

Like I need a subject title!

I figure it’s about time I flesh out this here weblog. I never was into that whole ‘blog’ scene in the past (mostly because my other projects have blog-like properties of their own). But ever since I signed up with Spymac for its 1 GB of e-mail storage, I figured I might as well make use of the other nifty features and do-gadgets. So you’ll probably be seeing a lot more blog entries up in here. Get used to it!

(I won’t, however, do those silly LiveJournal mood indicators. For crying out loud, is “cold” really a mood?!? I beseech thee)

But why did I actually make this entry? I, who constantly neglect scheduled site updates in favor of selfish abstract activities such as “work” and “school” and “eating in order to survive”? Well, my fledgling blog is the proud winner of the CultSpy award! After several seconds of research, I found that CultSpy looks around for the most well-written blogs in the Spymac community. I must say, I’m quite honored to receive this. Now if only people would comment more often… >.<

Oh yeah, since I’m all bloggin’ up in here, here is one of those common blog staples: currently playing songs! But I’ll provide a little something extra by providing a link to the song in the iTunes Music Store, so you can share in the love. Catch you all later, when I have more things to say!

99¢ a song? How can I lose?

April 16th, 2004

I thank God every day that I don’t own a credit card. That’s because I know that no matter how responsible I think I might be with a credit card, the instant I acquired one, I would open up the iTunes Music Store and overcharge that thing so quickly my head would spin.

It’s like some sort of drug addiction. You browse through and say to yourself “Hey look: ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ by Björk! And it’s only 99¢!” So you buy ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ by Björk for 99¢ because, hey, it’s so damn cheap. Later on, you win a free song in your Pepsi bottle, so you figure “Hmm, I could go grab ‘Sign’ by Nobukazu Takemura with this.” So that’s what you do.

And that’s how they grab you.

Soon you find yourself driving to the Apple Store in Valley Fair Mall to buy a $10 gift certificate so you can grab up the Debut album by Björk. Next you’re standing in the supermarket looking through the Pepsi bottles to find winning pieces, so you can grab the iTunes exclusive BA BA TI KI DI DO album by Sigur Rós. Before you know it, you’re trading sexual favors for spare change and spare Pepsi bottle caps on the street corner.

I should know, I’ve been through it all. Except for the sexual favors. I would never stoop that low… at least until the Pepsi giveaway ends on April 30th. My God, what have I become?

This thing is a thing!

Spain Journal – El 23 de Junio, 2000

I would say today was pretty fun. The group got to split up and explore San Sebastian.

I went off with the girls again, as Darien is just getting worse by the minute. Unfortunately, the girls went in just about every clothing store they saw, and San Sebastian has a lot of stores. Eventually we reached the aquarium, which, although interesting, wasn’t worth the walk (or the 1.100 pesetas we paid). The girls decided to go swimming; they enjoyed it until they realized they didn’t bring towels, and had to walk back to the hotel in their swimsuits (I can’t say I minded).

Spain Journal – El 22 de Junio, 2000

June 22nd, 2000

Jueves, el 22 de junio, 2000

The bus ride to Pamplona took more than 5 hours! I only slept for 3, so I spent about 2 hours playing Pokémon, until the batteries ran out. Pamplona was fun, but short. Our guide from NETC, Lisa Escobar, showed us where the bulls run during San Fermin on July 7th, and La Cafe Iruña, a restaurant Hemingway frequented. But after that, there wasn’t anything else to do. I walked around with Katya and some of the other girls, and we went in some stores and had some lunch, but we mostly just wandered aimlessly.

Luckily, the trip to San Sebastian was much quicker, 1 or 2 hours. Our hotel is on top of a huge hill overlooking the city. After looking around the hotel grounds a bit, I found a carnival-type thingy, but it wasn’t open. Maybe tomorrow…

Darien is really getting on my nerves. I don’t know what it is about him, but under normal circumstances I never would’ve even talked to him.
